Absolutely the worst nightmare in Collegedale. I was going 45 on a 35 and got a ticket. I've been driving for almost 10 years now and it was my first ticket ever for anything. After being at the court for 3 hours, the judge let me go but I still had to pay $110 for the court fee when my ticket fee was $138...However, I wonder why the judge let go of the first White middle aged man at the court without him having to pay for anything. He even had a couple of tickets in the past but he didn't even have to pay the court fee. When I asked them, the answer I got was "this world is unfair. Welcome to the world."
It's sad because it really hurts the local businesses. My wife will no longer be a patron at China Kitchen or even go to Walmart, she'd rather drive to Cleveland (paying 1/2 1¢ on each dollar in taxes more) for fear of any of the tax collected going to fund Collegdale.
Nothing but traffic cops. They don't serve the community in any way besides being meter maids to fund their over reach. They've now overtake Lee Hwy up to the Bradley county line. I'm sure there are no positives to this extensions of their jurisdiction besides being able to justify employing more meter maids.
The only real enjoyment Collegdale police offer is when you see multiple cars at a traffic stop & you wonder what menial task it take 2-4 officers to perform.
It is true, this police department is the biggest collection of corrupt thugs in the nation. Their main duty is to write tickets. They are nothing but thieving parasites. Not to mention they only seem to hire officers diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, as they have zero regard for anyone's civil and human rights. I would not doubt that they would attempt abuse their power to harass me over this review. What a grand day it will when this unnecessary police force is disbanded. Maybe then Collegedale's economy will pick up, since people will not be afraid to drive their anymore.
The time the traffic enforcement waste have influenced my driving pattern where I will drive on I-75 or even Mahan Gap to bypass the time bandits.
I highly respect our officers and all the service they do but ,collegedale has too many cops in one area.
This really isn't a change in status quo for CPD, I've been driving the area for over 20 years & Collegdale has widely been known to avoid for being a speed trap. It's just sad that my children will never go to the Imagination Station like I did as a child (when it was first built) because I always imagined this would be something Collegdale grew out of like a child with a bad habit. But no harassment of drivers is more important than growing the community.
I have lived here for 52 years. The police department and territory has grown tremendously during this time. I am thankful for our police department. Always there when needed. If you drive the speed limits and abide by the law, you have no reasons to avoid Collegedale or anywhere else.
